Lynn edges closer to the World Top 100

England’’s David Lynn took another significant step towards the top 100 on the Official World Golf Ranking with his superb victory in The KLM Open at Hilversumche Golf Club.

The 30 year old closed with a magnificent round of 66 to claim his maiden title on The European Tour International Schedule, beating Australia’’s Richard Green and Paul McGinley of Ireland by three strokes, to move up 47 places on the Rankings to World Number 106.

On the US PGA Tour, another maiden victory was claimed, this time by Australian Rodney Pampling, who beat Germany’’s Alex Cekja by two points to win The International tournament at Castle Pines. Pampling moved up 56 places to World Number 58.

And, although he did not play in the event, Tiger Woods remained at World Number One to equal Greg Norman’’s record of a total of 331 weeks at the top. Woods’’s current sequence at the top is now five years exactly.

Elsewhere, on the Japan Golf Tour, Korean Yang Yong-Eun won the Sun Chlorella Classic by three strokes to break into the World Top 200 in 190th position. In other tournaments Charles Warren eagled the 17th and held on to win the Cox Classic, his second Nationwide Tour title of 2004 and former Walker Cup player and Amateur Champion Graeme Storm won the Ryder Cup Wales Challenge at Northop Golf and Country Club.
