Marcus Armitage ready to end wait for DP World Tour win

Marcus Armitage feels "as close as ever" to a DP World Tour win as he heads into the final round of the 2026 KLM Open one shot off the lead.

A 67 on Saturday left the Englishman one nine under and right on the heels of joint leaders Sebastian Söderberg and Eugenio Chacarra at The International in Amsterdam.

Armitage's one previous title on the DP World Tour came at the 2021 Porsche European Open and should his second arrive on Sunday, it would be five years to the day since that victory in Hamburg.

He said: “I feel as close as I've ever felt (to a win) - I feel closer than what I was five years ago, but we all know this game, and we all know how hard it is to win.

“I'll just keep knocking on that door, and, hopefully 'The Bullet' can come steaming through one day.”

Armitage was one of a number of players who had to complete their second rounds on Saturday after extensive weather delays earlier in the week.

Having put the finishing touches to a 66, he returned to the course to fire five birdies and a solitary bogey.

His superb low approach to the 16th shaved the hole to set up a seven-foot birdie putt before he left himself even closer at the last.

He said: “Yeah, I mean, the 4am alarm, I did actually nip back to the hotel and got a 20-minute kip in between the rounds.

“Long day but I played some good stuff, so it makes it a little bit easier.

“I'm getting it in play off the tee, hitting decent iron shots, but my putting's really, you know, I'm holing some putts finally and it's fun out there. So, yeah, it's a lot of hard work and it's paying off.”
