Migliozzi revels in sensational Major debut

Guido Migliozzi was delighted with his Major Championship debut as he carded a closing 68 to surge through the field and finish in a tie for fourth at the 2021 U.S. Open - sealing a Masters Tournament debut in the process.

The Italian earned his spot at Torrey Pines Golf Course with back to back second places at the Betfred British Masters hosted by Danny Willett and Made in HimmerLand presented by FREJA as he finished second in the U.S. Open Qualification Standings.

The two time European Tour winner brought that form to California and after going 71-70-73 over the first three days, he produced a stunning finish when the pressure was on.

Birdies on the second and ninth saw him turn in 33 and he sandwiched a bogey on the 13th with a 60 foot putt from off the green at the 12th and a chip-in at the 14th.

He dropped a shot at the 17th but found the green in two at the last and two putts saw him finish at two under and seal his place at Augusta National next spring.

"It's been a wonderful week," he said. "My game was in a good spot and I'm really happy about my game today. So I'm pleased.

"My game is in a good spot and I'm really happy. Even under pressure, I'm performing well. I'm happy, and I can't wait to play another tournament.

"Starting the week, I was thinking I have only one chance to win my first Major. It was a tough thing but I take my position and I played it really solid today.

"My thinking today in the morning was to be able to give me a chance to get into the top ten. So I'm very happy about the score today."
