Casey’s achievements were recognised when named 2006 European Tour Player of the Year. He is currently in 12th place on The European Tour Order of Merit.

This year, Montgomerie came out on top at The K Club as victor of the Smurfit Kappa European Open and has also shown impressive displays in the Johnnie Walker Classic in March, where he finished in a share of sixth place, and in the Open de France ALSTOM in June where he finished tied third.
