Tickets are now on sale for the 2004 World Golf Championships – American Express Championship, as the event makes a welcome return visit to Mount Juliet, Co Kilkenny, Ireland, from September 30 – October 3, 2004. World Number One, Tiger Woods, won the Championship at Mount Juliet in 2002 and successfully defended his title at Capital City Club, Atlanta, earlier this year.
In a new initiative, organisers of the Championship are delighted to announce that there will be no booking fee charged for the purchase of tickets. These include bookings made by telephone, the Internet or through Ticketmaster Ticket Centre Sales offices for the event.
The 2004 Championship will see the return of many of the world’’s leading players to the superb Jack Nicklaus-designed course, competing for a significantly increased prize fund of $7,000,000 – the richest prize fund in Europe in 2004 - with a record first prize of $1,200,000 for the Champion.
The prize fund has risen by $1,500,000 since the highly successful WGC – American Express Championship at Mount Juliet in the week prior to The Ryder Cup in 2002, when 49 of the top 50 players on the Official World Golf Ranking enthralled record crowds at Mount Juliet.
With the success of the 2003 event, organisers are once again anticipating a great demand for tickets, and spectators are encouraged to take advantage of the new arrangements which will guarantee them access to one of the biggest sporting events held in Ireland during 2004.
