Nexo Championship: Fantasy DP World Tour ones to watch

As the Race to Dubai schedule resumes with a return to Scotland for the second time in as many months for the Nexo Championship, here is all that players of the DP World Tour's official fantasy game need to know.

After a two-week summer break, the Closing Swing picks up again on the Aberdeenshire coastline at Trump International Golf Links.

The $2.75million tournament, which previously featured as part of the Race to Dubai in 2020, marks the first time the Tour has visited Trump International Golf Links Scotland, which last week hosted the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship for the third year in a row.

Home favourites Connor Syme and Calum Hill – who have both triumphed on the Race to Dubai this season – join fellow Scots Ewen Ferguson, Richie Ramsay, Grant Forrest and Martin Laird as an international field assembles in Scotland.

HotelPlanner Tour graduate Kristoffer Reitan will also tee it up in Scotland as the highest-ranked player in the field as he establishes himself as one of Europe’s brightest prospects in 2025.

From insight into the week’s most-picked players among Fantasy managers, to our ones to watch, we run the rule ahead of Thursday’s deadline to pick your team.

Who are the most backed players?

Enjoying a breakout season on the DP World Tour, Marco Penge is the man most are tipping for success this week in Scotland, featuring in 65% of teams.

However, a fellow star of the 2025 Race to Dubai in Reitan is not far behind as he too seeks his second DP World Tour title of the season. The Norwegian is in 61% of teams in the lead up to the tournament.

There is then a big gap to home favourites Syme (37%) and Ferguson (33%) along with England's Dan Brown (30%), who round out the top five this week.

Who are our ones to watch?

Here, we pick out three players in action this week who are worth considering for your Fantasy team selections.

Favourite - Kristoffer Reitan

You could be forgiven for wondering if the two-week summer break will have halted the Norwegian’s momentum. Still, with Jordan Gumberg the only player to have featured in more events so far this season, there’s also the argument that he’ll be refreshed for it as he looks to build on a sublime stretch of form that has seen him work his way into the top five on the Race to Dubai Rankings. The 27-year-old will have good memories of his last appearance on Scottish soil, having more than held his own in stellar company by finishing in a tie for 13th at the Genesis Scottish Open in the Rolex Series. Since then, he has finished in a creditable tie for 30th at The Open. Appears destined to continue his career progression by earning one of the ten PGA TOUR cards on offer via the Race to Dubai.

Form Horse - Marco Penge

While he may have missed the cut at The Open on his last start, the Englishman is still in the form of his career. With the exception of a missed cut at the Turkish Airlines Open in May, the 2023 HotelPlanner Tour graduate had finished in the top 30 in each of his previous five starts prior to the final Major Championship of the season. The 27-year-old may have missed a section of the campaign due to a breach of DP World Tour regulations, but he is well on track for a PGA TOUR card as he heads into the final two events of the Closing Swing in fourth place on the Race to Dubai Rankings. His tie for second at the Genesis Scottish Open also lifted him into the world’s top 100 and his length off the tee is proving a valuable asset.

Wild Card - Daniel Young

Momentum is so often a valuable commodity in sport and that is something the Scotsman has. Already on track to earn promotion from the HotelPlanner Tour to the DP World Tour after back-to-back top three finishes in France in June, Young sealed his maiden HotelPlanner Tour title at the Farmfoods Scottish Challenge supported by The R&A on Sunday. In between, the 33-year-old had come through Final Qualifying to make it into his first Open, indeed his first Major, last month. And while he may have missed the cut at Royal Portrush, there can be no denying this has been a summer to remember for him. A chance to now create more memories on home soil awaits.

Looking back - The 153rd Open

Surprisingly, despite being the World Number One, Scottie Scheffler was not even among the top ten most picked players among our Fantasy managers, featuring in a mere 11% of teams.

But for the 3,701 of you who did pick him, with 896 picking him as their captain, you were rewarded with 223 Fantasy points as the American claimed his second Major title of the season.

Scheffler underlined his status as the bookies’ favourite by claiming a four-shot victory at Royal Portrush, Form Horse Russell Henley continued his excellent record in the Majors by finishing in a tie for tenth, while our Wild Card Marco Penge missed the cut.
