Notes on the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai Field

NOTES ON THE DP WORLD TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP, DUBAI FIELD

• There are 22 different countries represented among the 60 players competing. They are: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, England, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Paraguay, Scotland, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, United States and Wales.

• Here is the breakdown of players by nation: England 17, France six, South Africa, Spain and Sweden four, Denmark and Scotland three, Australia, Germany, Thailand and the United States two and one each for Argentina, Austria, Belgium, India, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Paraguay, South Korea and Wales.

• Miguel Angel Jiménez is the oldest player at 51. In all there are ten members of the 60 man field aged 40 and over. They are: Jiménez (51), Thongchai Jaidee (46), Scott Hend (42), Lee Westwood (42), Stephen Gallacher (41), Raphaël Jacquelin (41), Jamie Donaldson (40), David Howell (40), Søren Kjeldsen (40) and Anthony Wall (40).

•  Matthew Fitzpatrick is the youngest player in the field, aged 21.

• The field is made up of 26 winners from the 2015 European Tour season. Nine of those 26 are placed in the top ten of The Race to Dubai. The one player within the top ten yet to win is Louis Oosthuizen in fifth.

• The 60 man field contains 54 different European Tour winners, six players to have been European Tour Number One and five Major Champions.

• There are sevent players in the field who have recorded multiple victories during the 2015 season. They are: Andy Sullivan (three), Danny Willett, Rory McIlroy, Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Thomas Pieters, Branden Grace and Anirban Lahiri, with two apiece.

• Of the 60 players, Kiradech Aphibarnrat has amassed the most top five finishes, with eight.  Matthew Fitzpatrick has gained the most top ten placings, with nine.

• Matthew Fitzpatrick, Anirban Lahiri and Rikard Karlberg are the 2014 European Tour Qualifying School graduates to make the top 60.

• Byeong Hun An is the 2014 Challenge Tour graduate to make the final event.

• Byeong Hun An, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Anirban Lahirti and Rikard Karlberg are the four rookies who have made it through.

• During the season two players have been Number One in The Race to Dubai. Rory McIlroy has spent the last 32 weeks at the top and every week since April 12. Danny Willett held top spot for the first 14 weeks.

• There are ten players making their debut this week. They are: Byeong Hun An, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Patrick Reed, Anirban Lahiri, Thomas Pieters, Lucas Bjerregaard, Gary Stal, Max Kieffer, Rikard Karlberg and Scott Hend.
