NOTES ON THE DUBAI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD

• There are 17 different countries represented among the 58 players. They are: Australia, China, Colombia, Denmark, England, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Northern Ireland, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Thailand and Wales.

• England have the most players with 15. Next come South Africa with seven, Sweden have six, Spain five, Australia four, Denmark, France, Ireland,  Northern Ireland all have three each. Wales come next with two. China, Colombia, Germany, India, Italy, Scotland, Thailand all have one representative.

• Miguel Angel Jiménez is the oldest player at 45. James Kingston is the next oldest at 43.

• Rory McIlroy is the youngest player in the field at 20. The next youngest two are England’s Chris Wood 21 and Danny Willett, 22.

• The field is made up off 22 winners from the 2009 European Tour season.

• The field contains 49 different European Tour winners, five former European Tour Number Ones and four Major Champions. Between the 49 winners they have amassed a total of 218 European Tour victories.

• Rory McIlroy has accumulated the most top ten finishes of the season to date – 13.

• Two graduates from the 2008 Challenge Tour Rankings have made the top 60. They are: Rafael Cabrera-Bello and Gareth Maybin.

• Three players who finished in the top 30 from the 2008 European Tour Qualifying School qualified. They are: David Drysdale, Danny Willett and Chris Wood.

• Gareth Maybin, Danny Willett and Chris Wood are all in their rookie season on The European Tour.

• During the 2009 season, six players have been Number One in The Race To Dubai. Paul Casey occupied top spot for 12 weeks, Sergio Garcia and Geoff Ogilvy both had 11 weeks. Martin Kaymer was there for six weeks, followed by Lee Westwood with four and current leader, Rory McIlroy on three.
