Australian Peter O’Malley defeated compatriot Peter Cooke and Englishman Tom Lewis in a play-off to win the NSW Open hosted by Nathan Green in his homeland.
European Tour Member O’Malley took a five stroke lead into the final round at The Vintage Resort, Hunter Valley, but carded a closing round 72 to be caught by Cooke (67) and 19 year old Lewis (66) on 14 under par.
O’Malley, a three time European Tour winner, eventually triumphed on the third extra hole to capture the title and his first victory since the 2005 New Zealand PGA Championship.
