Olazábal looking forward to Germany test at Deutsche Bank

The Deutsche Bank Players’ Championship of Europe, played at the championship course of the Gut Kaden Golf Club in Hamburg, from July 23-29, has attracted a host of top players to challenge for defending champion Robert Karlsson’s title.

The tournament in north Germany will see Karlsson and three more of Europe’s 2006 Ryder Cup heroes – Spain’s José Maria Olazábal, England’s David Howell and Ireland’s Paul McGinley – competing as rivals, and two-time Major winner Olazábal, in particular, is looking forward to his start in Germany.

He said: “It’s been a few years now since I was a guest in Germany. I have always liked playing at the Deutsche Bank Players’ Championship of Europe and I’m very happy to take part in this star-studded tournament at Gut Kaden once again.”

Another player who has confirmed his participation is Johan Edfors, three time tournament winner on The European Tour in 2006.

In addition, three players from the US PGA Tour, who have never teed off in a regular European Tour event before, will appear at Gut Kaden – Australia's Rod Pampling, and Americans Ryan Moore and Matt Kuchar.
