On the Tee: Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

The feature groups will be tackling Carnoustie on Thursday.

Rory McIlroy

Danny Willett will go in search of back to back European Tour wins in the company of World Number Two Rory McIlroy when the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship gets under way on Thursday.

The Pro-Am event sees European Tour stars playing alongside names from the world of sport, entertainment and business at Carnoustie, St Andrews and Kingsbarns, and Willett arrives full of confidence after winning his second Rolex Series title at last week's BMW PGA Championship.

Willett will tee off the tenth at Carnoustie at 10.06am alongside executive Mohammed Farooq, while McIlroy will have his father Gerry as his team-mate.

JT and JR

Jon Rahm will also have his father Edorta for company and the World Number Five tees off alongside Matthew Fitzpatrick and former Barcelona and Real Madrid forward Luis Figo 11 minutes earlier.

Justin Rose's team-mate will bring some serious star power to the tenth at 11.23am as the Englishman gets his bid for a first Alfred Dunhill Links Championship title under way alongside musician, actor and keen golfer Justin Timberlake.

American Tony Finau and executive Ryan Smith complete that famous fourball.

Shane Lowry

Defending champion Lucas Bjerregaard is once again teamed up with businessman and friend Dan Friedkin, and they play alongside Italian Andrea Pavan and Alfred Dunhill Links Championship ever-present Chris Goodwin at 10.28am.

Open Champion Shane Lowry is out in the first group of the day off the tenth at Carnoustie at 9.00am, teamed up with Alfred Dunhill Links Championship veteran Gerry McManus and playing alongside South African Justin Harding and his team-mate, footballer turned actor Vinnie Jones.

Local favourite Robert MacIntyre tees off at 11.01am with executive Ashton Curtis, while playing partner and 2010 champion Martin Kaymer will once again have his father Horst for company.
