Defending ChampionDarren Fichardtwill begin his defence alongside fellow South AfricanHaydn Porteousand Asian Tour Order of Merit leaderGavin Greenat 07:30 local time.

Fichardt triumphed by one shot in a tournament that was reduced to 54 holes last year following thunder, lightning and a flooded course at Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club, while 2016 Joburg Open champion Porteous has great memories of this year’s new venue, having won an amateur tournament here by 14 shots in 2013.

One of the most in-form players on the European Tour,Dylan Frittelli, will get his quest for back-to-back European Tour titles under way at 11:05 alongsideJazz JanewattananondandCody Martin, with the latter a late replacement for Louis Oosthuizen, who was forced to withdraw from the event after suffering a freak injury.

Frittelli, who sits second in the Race to Dubai Rankings presented by Rolex after winning last week’s AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, his second European Tour title of 2017, will be keen to add a first win on home soil to his burgeoning trophy cabinet.
