This week’s hostIan Poulterwill kick off the British Masters supported by Sky Sports in the company ofMiguel Angel Jiménezand last week’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship winnerThorbjørn Olesen. With more than 1,100 European Tour starts between them, the three will start on the tenth tee at 8.20am on Thursday.
Prior to Poulter’s group on the tenth tee will be the group ofGraeme McDowell, Luke Donald and Tommy Fleetwood. All three will be keen to earn vital Ryder Cup points this week with McDowell making his sixth British Masters appearance, and his two English playing partners make their debuts.
At the same time on the first tee, three recent European Tour winners will start their British Masters campaigns:David Horsey, winner of the Made In Denmark,Rikard Kalberg, winner of the 72° Open d’Italia andLee Slattery, winner of the M2M Russian Open. Each will be looking to become the tenth player with multiple victories this season on The European Tour, joining the likes of Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Danny Willett and Branden Grace.
Ashley Chesters and Paul Dunnewill be making just their second starts as professionals this week and they will be paired together alongside Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship winnerGary Stalat 7.50am on the tenth tee. Dunne will be hoping to continue a good run of form at Woburn, a course on which he has won on twice, at the 2014 and 2015 Open Qualifying events.
In the afternoon groupings,Lee Westwood, Jamie Donaldson and Byeong HunAn will tee off at 12.30pm on the first tee, ahead ofDanny Willett, Thomas Pieters and Shane Lowry.
Westwood is one of four former British Masters winners in the field this week. 2006 winnerJohan Edforswill start on Thursday alongside fellow SwedePelle Edberg and Thomas Aikenat 8am.Thomas Bjørn, 2005 champion, tees off at 8.40am on the tenth tee withPaul Lawrie and Francesco Molinari. And finally, 2002 winner Thomas Levet will lead off the afternoon session on the first tee withAnthony Wall and Anders Hansen.
