Open Championship Qualifying Courses Annouced for 2006

Effingham, Musselburgh, Old Fold Manor, and Pannal are named as new additions in the list of 16 courses that will host Regional Qualifying for the 2006 Open Championship at Royal Liverpool.

The other 12 venues will be Ashridge, Little Aston, Minchinhampton, Notts, Orsett, Pleasington, Prestbury, Rochester & Cobham Park, Royal Ashdown Forest, Silloth-on-Solway, The Island and Trentham.

The four Local Final Qualifying courses for 2006 were announced earlier as Conwy (Caernarvonshire), Formby, Wallasey and West Lancs.

International Final Qualifying will be played in Africa, Australasia, Asia, America and Europe.

When The Open returns to Hoylake in 2006, it will be 99 years since qualifying was first introduced there in 1907. However it was a further 70 years before Regional Qualifying in its present form was added and the established qualifying system then in place was renamed Final Qualifying.
