Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California, has been selected to host the 2010 US Open Championship, the United States Golf Association has announced. The US Open will be played from June 17-20.
Opened in 1918 and designed by Jack Neville and Douglas Grant, Pebble Beach has been host to ten previous USGA championships, including four previous US Opens. Each of those US Opens was won by one of the game’’s great players – Jack Nicklaus in 1972, Tom Watson in 1982, Tom Kite in 1992, and Tiger Woods in 2000. Additionally, Pebble Beach is the home of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, a US PGA Tour event, each February.
Prior to 2010, the US Open will be played from June 16-19, 2005, at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club (No. 2 Course) in the Village of Pinehurst, North Carolina.; from June 15-18, 2006, at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York.; from June 14-17, 2007, at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvannia.; from June 12-15, 2008, at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California.; and from June 18-21, 2009, at Bethpage State Park (Black Course) in Farmingdale, New York.
