Players Aim for Final 5 Jackpot at the Volvo PGA Championship

The Red Bull Final 5, the competition that rewards the golfer with the best score over the last five holes, returns to The European Tour this week at the Volvo PGA Championship at Wentworth Club with proceeds going to Sport Relief.

After a successful introduction at the Daily Telegraph Damovo British Masters, where the players’ performance over the final five holes raised a £12,000 donation to Sport Relief, Red Bull is expecting to delve deeper into its pockets this week.

With two par 5s on the closing holes, the 17th and 18th, many sub par scores are expected. Red Bull are donating £1,000 to Sport Relief for every shot under par for the best Final 5 score on each day of the tournament.

The players also have a jackpot target to aim for. The best Final 5 score across every round of a tournament this season is 10 under par. For every player that beats this accumulative score at the end of the Volvo PGA Championship, Red Bull will donate £10,000 to Sport Relief.

The best single round score over the last five holes this season was Ernie Els’ five under par at the Johnnie Walker Classic at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Australia. Els also leads the table of average scores over the last five holes this season. He is currently 1.19 under par.

The European Tour events are the launchpad to Final 5 National Club Competition. All UK and Ireland golf clubs have been invited to run the Final 5 as part of a normal club competition. Club winners go forward to six regional finals and those winners contest a grand final.
