Joost Luiten and George Coetzee led the way on seven under after day one of the Portugal Masters.

Jason Scrivener (65, -6)
"I'm happy with the round and can't complain with six under. I just had a solid round, it was pretty stress-free, I didn't do too much wrong and plugged away. It brings back some good memories from last year. It was a stressful week last year and I managed to play well so it's nice to continue playing well around here. I feel like I've played nicely without getting off to a start like this. That's probably what I needed and it feels like the game's coming round."
Grégory Havret (65, -6)
"Early birdies are always a nice thing especially on the first that is not the easiest hole on the course. There were hardly any mistakes. I'm pretty pleased with what happened today. If you play well you shoot low because the setting is perfect. You have opportunities on the par fives and a few short par fours and if you manage well to play the hard holes you can do really well and that's what happened today."
Nino Bertasio (65, -6)
"I got off to a good start. I had a couple of lip-outs early on but then I managed to make some putts and sneaked in a nice eagle on 12 which helped and played 17 well. It was quite an easy six under, to be honest, not too much stress out there. It is quite a longish golf course but some of these fairways, you can miss them if you miss them in the right spots. I'd say that the long hitters have a little bit of an advantage and I'm kind of medium-long. I like this place, the greens are in much better shape this year so it's nice to make some putts."
