Poulter Wins Volvo Masters Andalucia to break into World's Top 50

Ian Poulter won the European Tour’’s season ending Volvo Masters Andalucia at Valderrama on the first hole of a sudden death play-off with Sergio Garcia. This was Poulter’’s sixth European Tour victory and moves him from 55th to 35th in the Official World Golf Ranking. Garcia climbs one spot to World Number Nine.

Meanwhile over in the USA World Number One Vijay Singh won the Chrysler Championship at Westin Innisbrook Golf Resort, Palm Harbor, Florida by a margin of five strokes from Jesper Parnevik and Tommy Armour III. Singh now holds a 1.93 average points lead over World Number Two Ernie Els in the Official World Golf Ranking who in turn stands 0.9 average points ahead of World Number Three Tiger Woods.
