Phillip Price’’s magnificent run of five consecutive birdies on the last five holes during the second round of the Volvo PGA Championship equalled the best score on the Final 5 for a single round in the 2004 season.
The Welshman’’s effort matches the five under par that Ernie Els scored on the final five holes of the last round of the Johnnie Walker Classic in Bangkok, Thailand in February. Els has the best average score over the Final 5 holes this season with 1.19 under par.*
Price’’s run means that Red Bull will be donating a further £5,000 to Sport Relief - £1,000 for every shot under par by the leading player. This takes the total for the tournament to £9,000 after Darren Clarke’’s four under par on the opening day.
The Ulsterman is leading the field for Red Bull’’s jackpot donation to Sport Relief. For every player who betters 10 under par over the Final 5 for the tournament, Red Bull will donate £10,000 to Sport Relief. Clarke is currently five under par for the tournament.
