Race to Dubai 2026 | The season so far

22 down, 20 to go - we are now past the halfway point in the Race to Dubai season.

We have so far visited five continents and 15 countries across two Major, one Rolex Series and 19 Global Swing events, producing 19 winners - nine of them first-time winners - from 11 nations.

Let's take a look at some of the highlights from a thrilling campaign so far.

Patrick Reed

Major success

We had a historic first this year, with European players winning the first two Majors of the season for the first time in the four-Major era.

Rory McIlroy headed down Magnolia Lane for the Masters Tournament with a significant weight off his shoulders after 12 months earlier slipping on the Green Jacket and completing the career Grand Slam.

He cut a more relaxed figure in the build-up and that appeared to filter onto the course as, despite a ragged display off the tee, he opened up a six-shot lead after 36 holes.

That pace could not be maintained as he was reeled in on day three but a closing 71 handed him a one-shot victory and he became just the fourth player in history to successfully defend the title at Augusta National.

"I just can't believe I waited 17 years to get one Green Jacket, and I get two in a row," he said.

"I think all of my perseverance at this golf tournament over the years has really started to pay off. It was a tough weekend. I did the bulk of my work on Thursday and Friday. But just so, so happy to hang in there and get the job done."

A month later, the eyes of the golfing world turned to Aronimink Golf Club and it was another DP World Tour member who walked away wth the Wanamaker Trophy.

Aaron Rai arrived in Pennsylvania a two-time Rolex Series champion and PGA TOUR winner who was comfortably sat inside the world's top 50 but it would not be unfair to say he was unheralded and not among the favourites.

Opening rounds of 70-69 had him in the pack before a day-three 67 put him two back heading into the final 18 holes.

After bogeys on the sixth and eighth, his chances were quickly fading but an eagle on the ninth then helped set in motion a back nine of 31 where he simply did not put a foot wrong.

His 68-foot putt for birdie on the 17th will be the most remembered of his 65 blows that got him to nine under and handed him a three-shot victory over Jon Rahm and Alex Smalley.

"So much goes into it from being a junior golfer to developing the game to have aspirations of turning professional," he said. "Then you realise once you turn professional how good some of these guys are and how strong the level of professional golf is, not just on the PGA TOUR, the DP World Tour, and all the feeders that go into it.

"So, yeah, it's a really long journey to even get to compete at Major Championships at events like the PGA. Yeah, to be stood here, it still hasn't sunk in for sure. Amazing journey."

Multiple winners dominate Rankings

McIlroy has topped the Race to Dubai Rankings in the last four seasons but he sits second after his Masters win and could have some serious competition in 2026.

The first player to make a big move was Jayden Schaper, claiming two wins before the calendar had even flipped to 2026.

After finishing second in his season-opener at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in honour of Gary Player, he sealed back-to-back play-off wins at the Alfred Dunhill Championship and AfrAsiaBank Mauritius Open to top the Rankings heading into the festive break as the Opening Swing winner.

A top five at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic represented his best Rolex Series finish but the man who lifted the Dallah Trophy at Emirates Golf Club would soon be top of the pile.

Patrick Reed won his fiirst Rolex Series title in the desert to kick off a remarkable run of form in the Middle East, losing out in a play-off the following week at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship and then winning the Qatar Masters.

After a one-week break, the International Swing picked back up in Africa and we had a first-time winner in Casey Jarvis at the Magical Kenya Open presented by absa.

Remarkably, he would win again the following week at the Investec South African Open Championship and then came within a whisker of making it three in a row with a runner-up finish at the Joburg Open.

McIlroy's win at Augusta then saw him go second in the Rankings but the Northern Irishman was, and is, flanked on all side by multiple winners.

Do you remember the first time?

Half of the wins so far this season have been claimed by players who have lifted a DP World Tour trophy for the first time in 2026 and that started with our Australian double header.

Spaniard David Puig got the ball rolling at the BMW Australian PGA Championship and the following week, Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen claimed his long-awaited maiden victory at the Crown Australian Open.

Schaper and Jarvis then completed their double-headers either side of Freddy Schott taking the title of the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship.

Alex Fitzpatrick was the next player to break through the Hero Indian Open before Mikael Lindberg brought the curtain down on the Asian Swing with victory at the Turkish Airlines Open.

The following week, Yurav Premlall completed a remarkable 14-shot win at the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship and Kota Kaneko was the lastest first-time winner at the Austrian Alpine Open presented by Kitzbühel Tirol.
