European Challenge Tour Member, Rafael Gomez of Argentina, fired a final round of 63 to win the inaugural Angel Cabrera Classic at the Jockey Club, Cordoba. The 39 year old from Buenos Aires came from five shots off the pace to beat 54-hole leader Daniel Vancsik and Daniel Barbetti, who closed with a course record 62.
Gomez had an eagle and five birdies in his round while Vancsik, recent winner of the Madeira Island Open BPI title, lost this chance of the title by going out of bounds at the last.
Former BMW PGA Championship winner Cabrera expressed his delight at the success of the new tournament bearing his name and said: “It’s been a great event and a very exciting final day. We will be back at the Jockey Club for this tournament for the next two years.”
