The two-time Ryder Cup star showed his world class ability when he helped Team USA to victory at The 2016 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine National with an impressive performance against Rory McIlroy in the Sunday Singles matches.

Reed, who will be playing in Germany for the first time in his career, said: "I have heard from many colleagues on the tour that the Porsche European Open is one of the highlights in Europe and I am delighted to be able to celebrate my German debut in Hamburg.”

World Number 42 Pat Perez will also join Reed - along with Major Champions Jimmy Walker and Charl Schwartzel - the 41 year old American has had a solid start to his 2017 season with a PGA TOUR title to his name and three top five finishes at other events.

Tournament Director, Dominik Senn, said: “It makes us very proud and happy that we can present two PGA TOUR stars - Patrick Reed and Pat Perez - to the fans at the Porsche European Open. We attach great importance to getting the strongest possible field and I know that golf and sports fans in Hamburg and nearby will not be disappointed."

A quality field is beginning to take shape ahead of the tournament, with 2016 champion Alexander Levy looking to successfully defend his title and Danish fans will have the opportunity to watch their winning team from the recent GolfSixes event as Thorbjørn Olesen and Lucas Bjerregaard join 15-time European Tour champion and 2018 Ryder Cup Captain Thomas Bjørn.

Germany will be well represented with Marcel Siem, Florian Fritsch, Maximilian Kieffer, Bernd Ritthammer, Alexander Knappe, Sebastian Heisele, Max Rottluff and Dominik Foos set to tee off in front of a huge home crowd in Hamburg.

Detlev von Platen, Member of the Board of Management and Marketing Cheif at Porsche AG, said: "The great response from the Northern German golf fans to the 2017 Porsche European Open shows that our change of location to the metropolitan region of Hamburg was the right decision.

“We are delighted to be able to present a world class player field for the premiere at Green Eagle with international stars like Jimmy Walker, Charl Schwartzel, Patrick Reed and Pat Perez. We are looking forward to top golf in a remarkable environment and we are eager to see if one of the pros will take home the Porsche Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo as this year's hole-in-one prize hole."
