Four European Tour champions – Alejandro Cañizares, Kenneth Ferrie, Brett Rumford and Y E Yang – were among the 26 successful graduates from the PGA Tour Qualifying School in Florida.
Rumford, who won his third European Tour title when he won the Omega European Masters in September, finished second at the Crooked Cat Course at Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge, Winter Lodge, Florida, behind Qualifying School winner Frank Lickliter.
A final round of 70 gave the Australian a 25 under par total of 407, four behind Lickliter.
Korean Yang, winner of the HSBC Champions at the start of The 2007 European Tour International Schedule, finished with three rounds in the 60s to finish on 20 uder par 412 and joint sixth.
England's Ferrie saved his best till last to earn himself a place on next season's PGA Tour. The winner of the 2003 Canarias Open de España and the 2005 Smurfit European Open had to improve six places on his overnight 31st spot and an eight-birdie 67 saw him climb all the way to joint 14th on 16 under par.
Spaniard Cañizares, who captured the 2006 Russian Open, also made it through on the mark with a final round of 72 to finish on 14 under par 418 and sharing 23rd place.
The biggest heartache belonged to Argentina's Miguel Angel Carballo. Two years ago he staged one of the greatest fight backs in European Tour Qualifying School history when he finished birdie, hole-in-one, birdie over the New Course at San Roque to win his European Tour card. But this time he experienced entirely different emotions as he dropped dropped four shots in the last three holes to miss by one.
