Charl Schwartzel posted a second successive 66 to claim the clubhouse lead on day two of the Porsche European Open.
The South African, who began the day two strokes behind overnight leaders Bernd Wiesberger and Benjamin Hebert, did not drop a single shot on Friday as he opened up a two shot lead over countryman Darren Fichardt.
Starting his round at the tenth tee, the 31 year old fired one birdie and eight pars on his front nine to reach the turn in 35.
Schwartzel began his back nine with another gain at the first before chipping in from beside the green to save par at the short second.
The 2011 Masters Champion then picked up shots at the third, fifth and eighth holes to head into the weekend on ten under par.
Schwartzel was thrilled with his second round at Golf Resort Bad Griesbach.
He said: "It’s nice to play some consistent golf. I’ve been feeling like I’m going to play well for a while, knocking on the door, but not had the momentum go my way.
"This time around I’ve kept it together nicely. I’ve hit lots of greens, given myself lots of opportunities and made a few putts, which helps.
"The putting is getting better. I’ve been hitting lots of putts where it has missed by the time you hit it.
"I can chip, that’s not my problem, but things like that (the second hole) are what you need when you are going to have a good tournament and compete. It keeps the momentum going.
"I didn’t miss any shots until that point and to be fair I didn’t hit a bad shot there either, but got a bad lie and looked like I would make bogey. Those things keep your round together.
"It’s a nice position to be in. It’s nice to finally play some good golf. There’s a long way to go, but if I can keep testing myself and do the same thing, hopefully it will hold up." Charl Schwartzel
Fichardt made a bright start to his second round, picking up shots at the third and fifth holes, just as he did on Thursday.
The 40 year old carded a bogey at the sixth but bounced back with another birdie at the eighth to cover the front nine in 33.
He then fired another birdie at the tenth before dropping a shot at the 16th to move to eight under.
Fichardt is looking forward to the weekend. He said: "I’m definitely happy with my position right now. It was playing pretty tricky out there today. There is some wind, the ball wasn’t going far, and the pins were pretty sneaky.
"You could make some big numbers. So two under, I’m happy. I knew today, starting on the front nine when it was cold, would be tricky.
"I managed to turn in two under and it warmed up, so I thought I could go low. But I shot level par on the back nine, which is the scoring nine.
"I feel comfortable in this position rather than the cut line. I feel freer. I pick my targets, get my numbers and go for them. I’m enjoying it.
"I’ve still got a lot to achieve before I’m done with this game and I’m excited to take on the weekend."
Jamie Donaldson is another shot further back on seven under after carding a three under par 68 on Friday.
The Welshman said: "I’m pretty happy. I played pretty solid the first two days. Yesterday I played really well and today was pretty good but I couldn’t make many putts. I wasn’t quite hitting my iron shots close enough to the flag though. But overall I’m pretty happy."
