Australian John Senden is on course to progress to the final stage of the US PGA Tour Qualifying School as he leads the second stage at Stonebridge Country Club in Texas.
The 30 year old European Tour Member, currently 80th in the Volvo Order of Merit, added a third round of 70 to his opening rounds of 63 and 71 for a 12 under par total of 204. Senden leads the players aiming to reach the US PGA Tour Qualifying School Finals, which take place at Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, from November 28-December 3.
South African Andrew McLardy, who played on The European Tour in 1999 and 2000 after graduating from the European Tour Qualifying School Finals, lies in joint fourth as he tries to regain his US Tour card. McLardy finished 84th and 91st in his two seasons in Europe before earning a US Tour card for the 2001 season through the Qualifying School process 12 months ago.
India’’s Jeev Milkha Singh is another European Tour Member hoping to book his place in Florida after a third round of 69 left him in a share of fourth place at the Black Horse Course, Seaside, California.
Joining Singh, the first Indian golfer to play on The European Tour, is joined at the Black Horse Course by Walker Cup player Luke Donald from England who shot a round of 70 for a four under par total of 212 and a share of seventh place.
Germany’’s Alex Cejka, winner of three European Tour events in 1995 including the Volvo Masters, remains on course to progress through the second stage at Kingswood.
