Bernhard Langer secured his second US Champions Tour victory after a marathon seven hole sudden-death play-off with America’s Jay Haas at the Toshiba Classic.
The German birdied the final hole in regulation play to force defending champion Haas into sudden-death at the Newport Beach Country Club in California after both player posted 72 hole aggregate scores of 14 under par 199.
The two men were inseparable as the play-off wore on and on, but Langer eventually emerged triumphant on the par five 18th when Haas missed a three foot par putt to hand the 50 year old German the second title of his new career in Senior golf.
