Singh on Brink of Capturing US Tour Money List

European Tour Honorary Member Vijay Singh looks almost certain to top the US Tour Money List for the first time as Tiger Woods, who needs to win the season-ending event to have a chance of catching Singh in the race to top the Money List, fell 11 strokes off the pace in the US Tour Championship presented by Coca-Cola at the Champions Golf Club, Houston.

Even if Woods were to make up the 11 stroke deficit on American Chad Campbell, who charged into the lead with a third round 61, Singh would still deny Woods a fifth straight Arnold Palmer Award for topping the Money List if he finished in a tie for third or better.

Singh carded a third round 67 to move to five under par 208 in ninth place with Woods shooting level par 71 to lie tied 15th on two under par 211. Campbell leads on 13 under par 200.

While Woods has made a habit of amazing comebacks the 11 strokes he needs to make up appear remote.

“It’’s never over until its over – but I’’m in a good position,” conceded Singh.

Retief Goosen, winner of the Volvo Order of Merit in 2001 and 2002 remains well placed to challenge for the US Tour Championship title after a third round 67 put him just three strokes off the lead in a share of third place on 203, ten under par.

Darren Clarke also continued to make significant progress, moving into the top ten with a 67 to lie on 209, four under par.
