European Tour Member Jeev Milkha Singh of India has targeted further success after finishing fourth at last week’s WGC-CA Championship – his best result in a World Golf Championship event.
Singh, the highest finisher of the 52 European Tour Members in action at Doral Golf Resort & Spa, attributed his performance to an improvement in his ball-striking and putting.
He said: “I’ve worked on my swing a lot over the past few years, and it’s all coming together nicely now. I’ve got a lot of trust and confidence in it now, so that helps.
“I’ve been hitting the ball really well lately, but in the end I think it all comes down to putting. I putted really well last week for the first time this year, and I hope to keep it going.
“I holed some putts I wasn’t supposed to, so I will definitely take fourth place. It’s one of my best finishes in the US, so I have to be happy with that.
“It also gives me the confidence to know that if I could finish in the top ten in the US PGA Championship and in the top four in a WGC event, in the future that I could do even better.”
Singh’s cheque for €284,144 moved him to 12th place in The Race to Dubai with earnings of €452,430, and he climbed from 36th to 29th in the Official World Golf Ranking, making him the second ranked Asian player behind KJ Choi in 21st position.
