World Number One Vijay Singh of Fiji has today withdrawn from the World Golf Championships – American Express Championship at Mount Juliet Conrad, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, Ireland.
Singh was due to fly home to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, on Sunday night after his win in the 84 Lumber Classic but due to Hurricane Jeanne, was unable to return until Monday. When he did get home, the effects of Hurricane Jeanne had left his house with no power, water was coming into the house and Vijay felt now was a time to spend with his family.
Singh’’s withdrawal means that 44 of the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking will be teeing up in the WGC – American Express Championship from Thursday 30 September to Sunday 3 October.
