Six European Tour Members gain exemptions for US Open

Anders Hansen and Justin Rose, the players involved in the thrilling denouement of the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club on Sunday, are amongst six European Tour Members now exempt for this year’s US Open Championship.

The duo, along with Angel Cabrera, José Maria Olazábal, Charl Schwartzel and Lee Westwood, gained the exemption by being in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Rankings when the exemption category closed on May 28.

Other players to gain an exemption were Robert Allenby, Aaron Baddeley, Tim Clark, Chris DiMarco, Charles Howell, John Rollins, Vaughn Taylor and Scott Verplank bringing the total number of exempt players for the Championship, at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania from June 14-17, to 72.
