The European Tour has received an award for its support of Special Olympics Great Britain Golf Development.
Richard Hills, Ryder Cup Director of The European Tour, received the award on behalf of The European Tour at Lords’ Luncheon Club’s first event of 2008, where the R&A also picked up an award.
European Ryder Cup winning Captains Seve Ballesteros and Bernard Gallacher were also honoured for their work with Special Olympics Great Britain, the year round sports training and competition programme for the learning disabled.
Ballesteros was also presented with a Special Olympics’ Lifetime Achievement Award. This year marks Special Olympics Great Britain’s 30th anniversary. It was founded in 1968 by Eunice Shriver Kennedy, sister of US President John F. Kennedy.
