Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will tee it up alongside the 2017 Race to Dubai Champion Tommy Fleetwood and two Premier League legends in Matt Le Tissier and Peter Schmeichel, as they form one of the headline groups at this week’s star-studded BMW PGA Championship Celebrity Pro-Am.
Guardiola and Fleetwood were famously playing a round of golf together when the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss received word that his Manchester City side had won the seventh league title of his managerial career.
Teeing off at the first hole this Wednesday, they will partner each other once again as the two-time Champions League-winning manager makes his debut in the annual Pro-Am at the famous Wentworth Club.

Showbiz stars will also be out in force on the eve of the opening Rolex Series event of the 2018 Race to Dubai, with multi-platinum selling pop star Niall Horan set to test his game at Wentworth alongside BBC Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans and Abhishek Ruia, a competition-winner on Evans’ Breakfast Show.
Damian Lewis, star of hit television show Billions, will bring his star quality to the first tee in the afternoon groups when he plays alongside The 2018 Ryder Cup Captain Thomas Bjørn as well as Skins actor Luke Pasqualino and Bradley Simpson of pop act The Vamps.
Also sure to attract a crowd in the afternoon tee-times is Hollywood heart-throb Jamie Dornan, while Tom Chaplin – formerly of pop-rock outfit Keane – returns to the fairways of Wentworth after headlining the Show Stage in 2017.
Piers Morgan, presenter of ITV’s Good Morning Britain, will return to the Celebrity Pro-Am as he tees off in the afternoon alongside four-time Major Champion Ernie Els, England cricket legend Kevin Pietersen and BBC Breakfast presented Dan Walker.
Irish eyes will be smiling in the afternoon when four-time Major winner Padraig Harrington plays alongside his fellow sporting legends of the Emerald Isle, rugby stars Brian O’Driscoll and Keith Wood as well as 20-time Champion Jockey Sir AP McCoy.
Other stars of the sporting world to play alongside the European Tour’s best players include rugby players Thom Evans, Will Greenwood, Scott Quinnell and Mike Tindall, as well as former Premier League footballers Robbie Fowler, David Ginola, Jamie Redknapp, John Arne Riise, Alan Shearer, Ian Wright and Gianfranco Zola.
Cricket stars Sir Ian Bothan, Allan Lambe and Brian Lara add to the sporting star power as they play together alongside former Open Champion Darren Clarke, while English Formula One hero Damon Hill, snooker legend Stephen Hendry and five-time Olympic gold medal-winning rower Sir Steve Redgrave will also tee it up at the stunning Surrey venue.
