Stellar Pro-Am line-up taking shape in Gullane

A star-studded line-up is coming together for the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open Pro-Am on Wednesday 11 July, one day prior to the opening round of the fifth Rolex Series event on the European Tour’s Race to Dubai.The return of the popular Tartan Wednesday means that it’s sure to be a colourful day at Gullane Golf Club as fans are encouraged to join players and celebrities by donning tartan in aid of the two tournament charities – My Name’5 Doddie Foundation and Leuchie House.

Kenny Dalglish

Scotland, Celtic and Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish MBE will be leading the line of sporting greats taking part in this year’s showcase. Sir Kenny will be joined by his ex-Liverpool teammate, Alan Hansen, who amassed over 400 appearances for the Merseyside club.

Gavin Hastings

Completing the sporting representation are two Scottish rugby legends, Gavin Hastings - a Leuchie House Ambassador - and Andy Nicol, while multi-Olympic Gold medallist, Sir Matthew Pinsentwill also head to Scotland’s Golf Coast next month.

Also added to the field are household British TV presenters Naga Munchetty, a regular on BBC Breakfast News, and Georgie Bingham, who features on the Weekend Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT.

Fans will also be treated to a variety of stars from the world of entertainment. Sam McTrusty of Scottish rock band Twin Atlantic and Irish singer-songwriter, Brian McFadden are heading for Gullane along with Scottish comedian Fred MacAulay,who now hosts the daily BBC Scotland Radio programme MacAulay and Co.James Nesbitt, the Northern Irish actor and golf fanatic joins the field as does Anton du Beke who will be swapping the Stricty Come Dancing ballroom floor for Gullane’s glorious links.

The Pro-Am is just one of a variety of attractions enticing golf and event lovers alike, to Scotland’s East Lothian coastline this July. with entertainment, children’s activities and food and drink outlets showcasing local produce, all complementing the world-class golfing action on Scotland’s Golf Coast the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open is a perfect day out for all the family.

This year’s tournament is supporting two official charities: The My Name’5 Doddie Foundation and Leuchie House. My Name’5 Doddie Foundation was launched by one of rugby’s most recognisable personalities, Doddie Weir, and his trustees following his diagnosis with motor neurone disease to raise funds to aid research into the causes of the disease and investigate potential cures. Leuchie House, a charity local to Gullane Golf Club, is Scotland’s only dedicated respite centre and offers caring respite breaks to people with long term neurological conditions, including motor neurone disease.
