Richard Sterne, of South Africa, remains the man to beat in the Nashua Masters on the Sunshine Tour as he takes a three stroke lead into the final round but he was overshadowed by fellow European Tour Member James Kingston who produced a blistering course record 61 to move into contention.
Kingston started his round at Wild Coast Country Club birdie, eagle, birdie but the real highlight came at 11th hole the when he holed his 206 yard four iron, a shot he later described as “the sweetest iron shot I have ever hit.”
Kingston needed only 29 strokes to reach the turn and 32 coming home to surge from two over par to seven under and within touching distance of the lead.
Sterne, who claimed his maiden European Tour title last October when he won the Open de Madrid to earn a two year exemption, remains in control after a three under par 67, which included six birdies but three dropped shots.
Sterne lies at 11 under par 199, three clear of compatriot Grant Muller with Kingston and Mike Lamb of Zimbabwe four off the pace.
