Richard Sterne from South Africa picked up a career first win on the European Tour with a two-stroke victory at the Open de Madrid at Club de Campo in Madrid. Sterne now lies at World Number 202 in the Official World Golf Ranking.
Ryan Palmer produced the final round of his life, a ten under par 62, to climb from a tie for thirteenth after three rounds to a three stroke victory in the Funai Classic at the Walt Disney World Resort. This maiden US PGA Tour victory takes Palmer to World Number 95.
This week’’s other winners were David Drysdale, who won the season ending Bouygues Telecom Grand Final on the European Challenge Tour, D.J. Trahan at the Miccosukee Championship on the Nationwide Tour, and Terry Pilkadaris who tasted victory at the Crowne Plaza Open in Shanghai on the Asian Tour.
On the Japan Golf Tour Toru Taniguchi won for the second consecutive week; this week’’s win came at the Bridgestone Open at Sodegaura Country Club. Taniguchi is now World Number 66.
