Three Swedes, led by Jesper Parnevik, are heading the European challenge on the Buick Invitational on the US PGA Tour with the Ryder Cup player joined in the top ten by Mathias Grönberg and Fredrik Jacobson and Spain’’s Sergio Garcia after the first round.
Parnevik picked up seven birdies in a flawless opening 65 round the North Course at Torrey Pines, San Diego, to trail leader Kevin Stadler by one. Grönberg, the reigning Telecom Italia Open champion lies in a group of five players on six under par, while Jacobson, the winner of three titles last year, and Garcia lie a further shot adrift in a share of ninth place.
