Eight golfers representing Team Great Britain are set to create lifelong memories when they tee it up this week at the 2019 Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi.
The global event will kick off proceedings today with its highly anticipated Opening Ceremony, and funds raised for the European Tour Foundation - the Tour’s charitable arm - from the 2018 BMW PGA Championship were used to finance the golfers and their coaches travel to Yas Links Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
The charitable grant has given promising golfers like 18-year-old Warren Clark the opportunity to realise their potential and compete on the world stage.
Nick Rose, Head of Fundraising - European Tour Foundation, said: “The European Tour Foundation is proud to support the eight golfers representing Great Britain at the Special Olympics World Championships in Abu Dhabi. We wish them all the very best of luck.”

Golf made its debut at the Special Olympics World Games in 1995 and includes a mix of stroke play competition and unified sports team play at some of the most pristine and technical golf courses in each host city.
Special Olympics transforms lives through the joy of sport, every day, everywhere. They are the world’s largest sports organisation for people with intellectual disabilities with more than 4.9 million athletes in 172 countries and over a million volunteers.
