The Royal Bank of Scotland, in association with The European Tour, are bringing professional golfers and golf fans closer together by launching The Royal Bank of Scotland ‘Shot of the Month’.
On a monthly basis a panel of golfing experts will nominate up to six shots from any sanctioned European Tour events played within the calendar month, with the selected shots screened in a Sky Sports highlights package during the live coverage of a European Tour tournament each month. Golf fans will then have the opportunity to call a designated hotline: 09015 646 188 to choose the shot of the month.
Each month the winning golfer will be presented with The Royal Bank of Scotland Shot of the Month trophy from Waterford Crystal with a £1,000 donation to a charity of his choice. One lucky golf fan will have the opportunity to win a trip to major golf events such as The Ryder Cup or the Volvo Masters Andalucia.
The judging panel is made up of four members of the golfing media and will be rotated throughout the year. The initial panel will consist of Ewen Murray (Sky TV), Mark Garrod (Press Association), Peter Masters (Golf Weekly) and Gordon Simpson (The European Tour).

In addition to the highlights package on Sky Sports, golf supporters will also receive regular updates and another chance to vote with Golf Weekly. Peter Masters, editor of Golf Weekly and member of the judging panel said; ‘It’s a great opportunity for real golf fans to get in on the action and vote for their shot of the month.”
In December, the winning shots from each month will be entered into The Royal Bank Shot of the Year. The panel along with golf fans will then decide the overall winning shot for the year. The winning golfer will receive the Shot of the Year Trophy from Waterford Crystal and a cheque for £2,000 donated to a charity of his choice.
Jim Bellany, Head of Sponsorship at The Royal Bank of Scotland, said; ‘The Shot of the Month’ increases our involvement with golf and The European Tour while providing golf fans with the opportunity to be part of the action.”
