Seve Ballesteros, Ernie Els, Nick Faldo, Tony Jacklin, Bernhard Langer, Sandy Lyle, Greg Norman, José Maria Olazábal, Gary Player, Nick Price, Vijay Singh and Ian Woosnam, who between tham have won 37 major championships, are among 38 founder Members announced today with the introduction of the European Tour’’s Ambassadors Club.
The Ambassadors Club acknowledges the highly significant roles made by players in elevating the status of the European Tour and the popularity of the game.
There will be new intakes of Members, probably on an annual basis, based on a qualification system which is fully explained in “The European Tour – On Course for the Millennium”, an official publication which documents the birth and development of the European Tour.
“We have been privileged since the first ball was struck in 1972, following the birth of the European Tour to watch the progress of players from all corners of the globe and share with them their success in addition to monitoring our own growth.
“Now we are delighted to name the 38 founder Members of the European Tour’’s Ambassadors Club, and we hope in the near future to be able to announce a special home for the club.”
