Tips from the Pros...with Roope Kakko

Tips from the Pros….with Finland’s Roope Kakko, leader of the Average Putts Per Round Category on the Genworth Financial Statistics

One of the main faults I see among the high handicap amateurs is a tendency to make too much use of the hands while putting.
Putting is a specialist art, totally different from the rest of the golf game which involves use of so many moving parts of the body.

My advice would be to remember this…keep the lower half of the body totally still and make the shoulders do the work, not the hands. So many amateurs tend to sway when they putt and make too much use of the hands. If you do that, you are not going to develop the consistency you need.

So, remember these points and try to visualise the path of the putt facing you and picture how the ball is going to roll. Trust your feel and you will start holing a few good ones and get that handicap down!
