The inaugural Sicilian Open sees The European Tour visit the Italian island of Sicily with golf a burgeoning sport in the country following the success of the Molinari brothers and Matteo Manassero. Donnafugata Golf Resort and Spa will host the tournament, which is one of two European Tour events in Italy along with the BMW Italian Open. It is also the first tournament of the 2011 season to be played on European soil.
