Turkish Airlines Open - Day three digest

Daniel Rodrigues kept his cool, Guido Migliozzi changed his approach and Gregorio De Leo holed a monster on day three of the 2026 Turkish Airlines Open.

Here is everything you need to know from Moving Day at National GC.

Rodrigues keeps a clear mind

Daniel Rodrigues is playing for both a maiden DP World Tour win and the possibility of a US PGA Championship place as a top-three finisher on the Asian Swing. But the 23-year-old Portuguese rookie, who shares the third-round lead with Mikael Lindberg on seven under par after a 68, is happy to push those thoughts to one side in the short term. “I have it in the back of my mind but I don't like to think about it too much," he said. “I know what's at stake and it's always nice to play for that stuff but at the end of the day, you've got to hit shots for 18 holes and it's a long time and you've just got to do your best. That's it.”

Migliozzi walks the line

Guido Migliozzi has an unusual approach on the greens, marking his ball with a line like most players but rarely making use of it to line up his putts. He switched from that strategy after a slow start to his third round at National GC and immediately felt the benefit in a run of five straight birdies round the turn.
"I started missing a few putts and then I changed a little thing on the greens and I holed a good putt on number eight, then from there I made five in a row playing very good shots," he said. "It was just putting the line in, I don't use the lines very often but I was just missing too many putts. (It's normally) just feeling, without the line sometimes it's a bit better for me to believe in my stroke. But sometimes I need the line!"

De Leo's bolt from the blue

Migliozzi's fellow Italian Gregorio De Leo led after the second round but his challenge appeared to be faltering after bogeys at either end of his front nine on Saturday. The final analysis of his round included three bogeys and no birdies... but a truly spectacular eagle on the 14th hole from almost 100 feet away at the front edge of the green!

Rain stops play

Play had been brought forward to avoid bad weather forecast for the afternoon, but heavy rain and lightning in the area forced a stoppage of just over two hours late in the round. That left Ewen Ferguson, leading at the time on eight under, a long time to sweat over a difficult bogey putt, which the Scot was unable to hole when play resumed.

Early start again

Sunday will see a repeat of Saturday's schedule, with the opening tee times brought forward to 07:00 am local time and the final group of Rodrigues, Lindberg and Ugo Coussaud teeing off at 09:10 am (respectively, 05:00 and 07:10 GMT).

All change

The forecast also led to some changes in the course set-up, making for a challenging Moving Day as Coussaud explained. The Frenchman, one shot off the lead in a six-way tie for third on six under, said: "The referees expected some rain so they were all on the top and it was quite interesting to play. It's not that soft and the pins were so on the top, on the ridges and stuff, that you can't afford to miss the play."
