Peter Uihlein’s holed wedge on the iconic 18thhole of St Andrews’ Old Course has been voted as the September Shot of the Month by fans of My European Tour.
Faced with a short pitch from the crisp links turf during the third round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, the American fizzed in a perfect wedge that not only found the cup, but flew in full toss.
That eagle saw him forge a two shot lead through 54 holes in Scotland en route to a play-off loss to David Howell 24 hours later, and he will now join this season’s previous monthly winners in contesting the Shot of the Year prize.
Alongside him will be Chris Wood (January), Charl Schwartzel (February), Anders Hansen (March), Maximilian Kieffer (April), Ernie Els (May), Justin Rose (June), Francesco Molinari (July) and Danny Willett (August).
They will all hope to follow in the footsteps of Louis Oosthuizen who claimed the Shot of the Year crown in 2012 thanks to his outstanding albatross two during the final round of the Masters Tournament.
