American Bo Van Pelt hopes positive memories will aid his defence of the ISPS Handa Perth International title.
Van Pelt edged out compatriot Jason Dufner by two strokes to win the inaugural event in Western Australia last year.
He will now attempt to defend his crown following a disappointing year and is understandably buoyed by looking back upon his victory last time out.
“I am obviously excited to be back; I have a lot of good memories from last year,” he said. “I had a great visit even before the tournament started last year, and had a smooth trip.
“Last year when I first played the golf course, I really enjoyed it. The weather was good all week. Jason and I had a good little battle on Sunday, and I felt fortunate to come out on top.
“I had a pretty good break and I was excited to come back to a golf course that I have those good memories at, so hopefully I'll be ready to go by Thursday.”
While the positive vibes have boosted Van Pelt, he is well aware that his previous success will have little bearing on this week’s outcome.
“I think obviously you have those good memories that you can pull back on and a golf course that I liked the first time I saw it,” he added.
“But, you know, this year is a different year. You've got to come execute the shots on the following year.”
