We had a tie at the top, a brace of aces, some candid chat and some incredible shot-making on day two of the Volvo China Open.
Here is everything you need to know from Friday at Enhance Anting Golf Club.
Tie at the top
Shaun Norris and Bernd Wiesberger will share the lead heading into the weekend in Shanghai but will have a pair of home heroes chasing them down.
While very low scoring was the order of the day in round one after recent rain, day two proved a much tougher test as sunshine and breeze firmed up the course.
South African Norris was bogey-free and on track to take the solo lead into the last 36 holes but a first bogey of the week on the last dropped him back to 12 under as he signed for a 67.
That left him alongside Austrian Wiesberger, who rode the momentum of a birdie-birdie-birdie start to a 66 as he goes in search of a second win in China.
Teenage star Yanhan Zhou thrilled the home crowds on day one with a 61 and he followed that with a 69 to sit one back alongside fellow Chinese Bowen Chai, who carded a 66.
First-round leader Alejandro del Rey was then at ten under after a second round 71, one shot clear of Australian Kuangyu Chen, Frenchman Tom Vaillant and Dutchman Darius van Driel.
Chase the ace
We had not had a hole-in-one on the DP World Tour since the Qatar Masters at the start of day two but just like buses, two came along at once.
First, Scot Daniel Young holed a four iron at the 230-yard par-three-second - although he did not realise until he got to the green - and then American Jake Vincent needed just a single blow with a six iron from 184 yards at the 12th.
Unfortunately for the duo, the Volvo EM90 up for grabs this week is on the 16th, but they both take home an excellent souvenir of their achievements, with Young getting a model Volvo EX90 and Vincent a model Volvo ES90.
Fine reminders to have on the mantelpiece.
Glovely stuff from Chacarra
There are not many sportspeople who tinker in the search for perfection more than golfers.
From moves as extreme as changing clubs or ball to as subtle as slight alterations in grooves or loft, a golfer will do almost anything to find that 1%.
Eugenio Chacarra is no different and over the past few weeks he has been experimenting with putting with a glove on – a rarity in the professional game.
With a runner-up finish at the Hero Indian Open and a top ten at the Tulum Championship at PGA Riviera Maya on the Korn Ferry Tour, it certainly looks to be paying dividends, and Josh Antmann caught up with him to talk about it.
“It’s just trying stuff,” said Chacarra. "I feel like putting with the broom, when I hit bad putts my left hand just moves a little and it’s just a mental thing. The glove is helping me to think to leave my left hand a little firmer.
“We tried it in India and it worked well so it’s been good. It’s also easier, I don’t need to take it out.”
The Spaniard will head into the weekend at four under.
Almost an albatross
We have not yet had an albatross on the DP World Tour this season but we came mighty close today courtesy of Tom Vaillant. What a shot.
Poetry in motion
The driver off the deck, the trademark Hidalgo clout, the huge cut - there is nothing not to love about this. "9.9/10," said Tony Johnstone and who are we to argue?
Beef and dumplings
It's great to have Andrew 'Beef' Johnston back on Tour after his injury woes and he will be heading into the weekend at seven under and right in the mix.
During his second round, Josh Antmann caught up with the affable Englishman to talk dumplings, duck and football.
