Waterford Crystal Unveils New Irish Open Trophy

The Irish Open and The European Tour are delighted to announce Waterford Crystal as an Official Supplier to the Irish Open which takes place at Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort from May 17-20.

Tom and Judy Kane, Managing Partners, Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort unveiled the specially commissioned trophy with just a week to go to this year’s event.  Waterford Crystal has had a long-standing relationship with the Irish Open having designed and crafted the trophies for the prestigious golfing event since 1975.

The Waterford Crystal trophy for this significant sporting occasion will stand 24 inches tall and will reflect the heritage of Adare Manor, the new location for the Open for the next three years.

Brian Mc Gee, Sales and Marketing Director, Waterford Crystal, said: “The Irish Open is a very important fixture on the international golfing calendar and we are delighted to be presented with the opportunity to design and craft the winner’s trophy. Waterford Crystal has a long standing relationship with many sporting organisations, and we are proud to be able to present our trophy at the Irish Open on Irish soil and hopefully to an Irish golfer”.

For over 60 years Waterford Crystal has been associated with incredible moments of achievement in the world of international sport. It has an unrivalled heritage for marking truly great sporting occasions and has created timelessly beautiful trophies for worldwide events such as the Volvo Ocean Race and the German Formula 1 Grand Prix - watched by a staggering 30 million people each year.  Waterford’s association with golf is long standing, dating back to the ‘70s when Bing Crosby invited Waterford Crystal to design a trophy for what is now the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.  In 2006 Waterford Crystal was an Official Sponsor of The Ryder Cup and developed a range specifically to commemorate the occasion.

The luxurious five-star Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort, under the ownership of Tom and Judy Kane, will host the Irish Open for the next three years and together with The European Tour, has embraced the new partnership sponsorship model incorporating leading Irish and international sponsors.
