Wentworth Club Rocks to the Sound of INXS

The 18th  fairway of Wentworth Club’s East Course, normally an oasis of peace and tranquility, was transformed on Wednesday night into a wall of noise as the BMW PGA Championship’s second Concert on the Course,  reverberated to the sounds of one Australia’s greatest rock bands.

Fans both young and old could be seen dancing and re-living all the classic hits of INXS. An expectant crowd waited as the six-man group ran on and opened with one of their iconic numbers, Suicide Blond. It was sung with all the energy that has captured audiences the world over for the past three decades. It was soon followed by other hits of the past, Mistify, Disappear, The Devil Inside, to name a few, as the band, led wonderfully by front man, Canadian J.D. Fortune and complemented by lead guitarist Tim Farriss, who along with fellow band member, Garry Beers played in the Pro-Am with supermodel Jodie Kidd and Paul Casey, played for over 90 minutes with a mixture of their past and present songs.

With the audience demanding an encore, the best was saved until last, with Fortune leading the singing of New Sensation. With 2005 US Open Champion, Michael Campbell in attendance it really was a Major performance in every way.
