Apart from 2002 when it was played at Sahalee Country Club in Washington State, the spiritual home of the World Golf Championships – Bridgestone Invitational has been the Firestone Country Club in Akron. The Ohio venue plays host once again this year for the 12th time. Almost as prevalent in that time have been victories for Tiger Woods, who has captured the title on seven occasions inlcuding the first three stagings from 1999 to 2001. Last year it was his fellow American Hunter Mahan who came from three shots back to add his name to the list of champions.
