With Byeong-Hun An, David Lingmerth and Nicolai Højgaard earning the final three spots for The 151st Open at Royal Liverpool through the 2023 Genesis Open, the field is set for the final Major of the year. Find out who is playing below, and how they qualified.
As Rory McIlroy made history by winning the Genesis Scottish Open, An, Lingmerth and Højgaard celebrated a feat of their own after earning the final three spots available through the Open Qualification Series, which has taken place throughout the season. .
The co-sanctioned Genesis Scottish Open marked the final event of the season, which has allowed plenty of players to book their spots at Hoylake through great finishes and several different events.
Nacho Elvira, Marc Warren and Kalle Samooja earned their places through the Made in Himmerland, while Daniel Hillier, Oliver Wilson and Gunner Wiebe secured their places at the Betfred Britsih Masters. Elsewhere, Dan Bradbury, Sami Välimäki, Christian Bezuidenhout, Haydn Barron, Alejandro Cañizares and Min Woo Lee also earned their places at Hoylake via the series at the Joburg Open and ISPS HANDA Australian Open respectively.
The Open Qualifying Series marks just one of 28 different ways to qualify for the final Major of the year (other than Final Qualifying), which includes categories such as the First 30 in the Final Race to Dubai Rankings for 2022.
Romain Langasque, Alexander Bjork, Joost Luiten, Marcel Siem and Jorge Campillo all recently qualified through Category 5, which states that five places are available to any DP World Tour members tying for 5th place, not otherwise exempt, in the top 20 of the Race to Dubai Rankings on completion of the 2023 BMW International Open.
With just a few weeks to go and only a few routes left to make their way to Royal Liverpool, many will be teeing up at Final Qualifying in a bid to earn one of the 19 spots available. It will take place across four venues on Tuesday the 4th July, with six further spots available through the Open Qualifying Series (three apiece) at both the Made in Himmerland in Denmark this week, and next week's Genesis Scottish Open on the DP World Tour.
Final qualifying also recently took place, which saw home hero Matthew Jordan joined by a host of fellow DP World Tour stars to progress through Final Qualifying. Also coming into the field through that route were 18 others, including Matt Wallace, Thomas Detry, Antoine Rozner, Matthew Southgate and Alex Fitzpatrick. With Matt Fitzpatrick and Rasmus Højgaard also in the field, the tournament will feature two sets of brothers.
