With This Win… Henrik Stenson – WGC Accenture Match Play

With this win Henrik Stenson secured his sixth European Tour International Schedule victory in his 62nd European Tour event as a professional and moves to Number Five in the Official World Golf Ranking – the highest position held by a Swedish player. Stenson is also the first Swede to win a World Golf Championship event.

• First European Tour Member to win the WGC – Accenture Match Play since Darren Clarke in 2000

• Becomes the  third European Tour Member to win a WGC event, following Clarke (2000 WGC – Accenture Match Play and 2003 WGC – Bridgestone Invitational) and Ernie Els (2004 WGC – CA Championship)

• The eighth different winner of the WGC – Accenture Match Play in the nine year history of  the event

• The 12th different player to win a World Golf Championship event

• First multiple winner of The 2007 European Tour International Schedule

• Moves to the top of The European Tour Order of Merit with €1,473,950. This represents the first time he has held the Number One position in his career

• Extends his European Tour exemption until the end of 2010

• Gains his largest European Tour prize of €1,027,631 (£692,343)

• Third consecutive European Tour season he has passed the €1 million mark in official earnings

• Moves over €6 million in European Tour Official Career Earnings – the 28th European Tour Member to achieve the feat

• Second win of the 2007 European Tour International Schedule, following the Dubai Desert Classic

• Now won on his last two consecutive European Tour appearances, following the Dubai Desert Classic. First player to achieve this feat since Tiger Woods at the 2006 US PGA Championship and WGC – Bridgestone Invitational

• Second consecutive European Tour season he has recorded multiple victories on The European Tour. In 2006 he won The Commercialbank Qatar Masters and BMW International Open

• Has now won four European Tour titles in his last 25 European Tour events. The 2006 Commercialbank Qatar Masters, BMW International Open and 2007 Dubai Desert Classic and WGC – Accenture Match Play

• Third Swedish victory on The 2007 European Tour International Schedule. They are: Stenson (Dubai Desert Classic and WGC – Accenture Match Play) and Peter Hedblom (Maybank Malaysian Open)

• The 72nd Swedish victory on The European Tour

• Joins Anders Forsbrand on six European Tour victories and moves alongside him in joint second in the list of most Swedish wins, just one behind Robert Karlsson, with seven

• His ninth win as a professional

• Fourth top ten finish of the 2007 season and 27th of his European Tour career
